Isaiah 48:17-18 Thus saith the Lord, thy Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel; I am the Lord thy God which teacheth thee to profit, which leadeth thee by the way that thou shouldest go. 18 O that thou hadst hearkened to my commandments then had thy peace been as a river, and thy righteousness as the waves of the sea: (KJV)
If we just let the Lord speak for Himself we come to understand that He wants His people to “profit”, or prosper. He Himself says that He actually teaches His children how to be wealthy. The word, “wealthy” means more than just to have money. Many people who have money are in fact are not at all wealthy!
God’s “commandments” are meant for our good and not our harm; as Satan would have us believe. We can have “peace” like a river and “righteousness” or right-ness like a sea. Abundant contentment is to be found at the end of the stream of God’s Word. The Lord’s blessing adds true riches “without sorrow.”
God is not in any way glorified by the poverty of his people. Nor is he honored by their lack of well-being. Without a doubt, the Lord desires your fullness. He desires your fullness as well. If we will believe and obey His commandments we will receive all that He has meant for us to receive! Whatever that includes or excludes is all right by me, because I know that I have a gracious loving Father Whose every thought toward me is good.
Prayer: Father God, I don’t want anything that You don’t want me to have. At the same time, I do want anything less than what you want me to have.
I believe Your Word: and Your word teaches that You want good things in my life. I ask you to provide in abundance and grant that I have a gracious heart that is willing to share those blessing with others. In Jesus’ Name, amen.
COMMITMENT: I refuse to be fooled into any kind of “Prosperity Doctrine” that is not clearly supported in God’s Word. At the same time I refuse to believe for less that God’s Word reveals His will to be. I will “proper, and be in health, even as my soul prospers” (3 John 2).
